- My daily paintings are all painted from life and are 5 x 7" (unless stated otherwise). My current technique is to lay out my palette from dark to light colors, using about 12 colors (similar to Richard Schmid). I used to use the Frank J. Reilly method (from the French Academic School – laying out strings of color values) see June 10 posting. I'm basically self-taught, except for a few months of training I had with specific artists.
