Here is the palette that I used to paint the grapes and orange rose painting below. After determining the colors needed, I create rows of color which is the original color mixed with white. I like to get 9 values (1 is darkest and 9 is lightest). This is based on Frank J. Reilly's techniques, an artist who's lineage dates back to the French Academic School (ex: William Bouguereau).

This a commission I just completed of Gabby and Adam. It is 18 x 14" in charcoal.
